I recently joined the drama team and church and this past Sunday morning I did my first skit with them. It went really well and everyone seemed to have a great time. We did a version of a game show, called "Manna from Heaven" where the audience was divided into two teams and had a representative in a dunk tank in the front. If the audience member got the question right, the opponent got the literal "manna" dumped on their head (i.e. milk and honey, wine, honey comb, lentils, snow, straw, ashes, etc). Initially, we didn't think it had a real point, other than just to create laughter for everyone else and to give them the opportunity to relax, enjoy, and experience the joy that God has given us.
The sermon after the skit was about experiencing God and just being in his presence. The point was that if you can't feel God's presence, then you should work on the relationship with him and get to know him.
The sermon was based on the word from Exodus, where God met Moses' in the Wilderness:
Ex 25:22 And there I will meet with you, and I will commune with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim that are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give you in commandment unto the children of Israel.
I think the part of the verse that got my attention was "mercy seat". That speaks volumes to me. Where would we be without his mercy? What if we had to go through the wilderness without mercy?
I got this vision when the pastor spoke about walking and having God with you in every step and he's there whether you acknowledge him or not. It makes more sense to place yourself literally - in his hands and let him guide your journey. His will shall be done regardless. Your life will not be easy by any means but you can make it easier by embracing the journey , building the relationship between you and Jesus, and to just let yourself experience God.
This is something I really need to work on myself. Letting go and letting God. Loving your blog.
